“ Man ole man!!!! Went to Arlington for one thing and ended up with another. Thank God I did. This place was fire!!! The service was great, wait time was minimal and the food was fresh and hot. We tried a couple of different things and we weren't disappointed. I'm definitely spinning the block on this one. If you're looking for a great soul food spot this is it. Tell'em I sent you. ”

“ I've often found that uber-local joints get inflated ratings, from people charmed by an involved owner and/or who want to support a <5-man operation. I was happy to discover that wasn't the case here. The food's good! Very classic. I asked for a dinner plate of "whatever you recommend", with the assurance that, really, anything was fine, and got this: fried whiting, collard greens, and sweet potatoes, along with some white bread. The whiting was hot and seasoned, with crispy breading and almost no bones in the filet I ate. The sweet potato was an absolute standout for me — took me right back to every Thanksgiving with my family. The collard greens were made with more vinegar than I'm used to, but not so much that it was off-putting (which I have definitely encountered at other places), and it helped to have something cut through the sweet potato in the meal. Took it all to the next level by making a sandwich out of it and getting some Texas Pete in there. The price-portion ratio takes this from a respectable 4* to a 5* for me. I paid $22 total and still have enough food for another meal and a snack. That's VALUE, ladies and gentlemen, and fewer and fewer places have that. Delicious end to my personal observation of Juneteenth; I'd love to come back and try other people's recommendations. ”

“ Found & tried this place on a whim. They did not disappoint! They were very welcoming and friendly. The food was ready surprisingly fast seeing as we ordered 5 meals at once. Definitely what you would call comfort food. ”

“ My family and I ordered the catfish dinner plate with 2 crab cakes. The food was absolutely AMAZING!!. The food was fresh one of a kind and home made you can taste it in every bite. I have no complaints about the atmosphere the old school tunes the establishment played made me feel like I was back in my grandmother’s kitchen again. The service was unbeatable, I met what I assume to be the owner very friendly very respectful I will be coming back again and I will be telling all my friends & family about this establishment I wish I could give the restaurant 10 stars the food and the experience was that GREAT. ”

“ Customer service was exceptional from the moment I arrived and exited my vehicle. The owner personally greeted me and inquired if I was seeking the restaurant. I confirmed my intention and he informed me that it was conveniently standing right in front I expressed my positive impression of the ambiance. Upon entering the establishment, I noticed the menu displayed on the counter. The prices, which are owned and operated by a Black individual, are quite reasonable. I I ordered the Whiting macaroni and cheese, collard greens, and catfish as a side dish. The culinary experience was exceptional, with each dish meticulously prepared and seasoned to perfection. The exceptional quality of the food will undoubtedly lead me to return in the future. ”

“ Food was so good! Definitely will be coming back, cooks were friendly and kind. We got dinner meals and the jumbo shrimps were huge. High recommend. We paid $20 for an entree and 2 sides, my dish came was shrimp and it came with hush puppies. We also got red velvet cake and bread pudding which was so good, wishing you the best for your business. ”

“ I visit First Impression on occasionally. The staff is always very friendly and the food is always delicious and great portions. However, on my most recent visit, my food left me wishing I had gone somewhere else. I was a bit disappointed. The mac n cheese and greens were delicious, but my fried fish was overcooked and too crunchy. It's like the filets were cut way too thin and / or cooked way too long. They were flavored great, but it was SOOO tough. I'll likely be back again, but probably not as often. And I'll be checking my orders from now on. ”
